Last updated: Apr 30, 2026
This Poe Privacy Policy describes how personal information is processed when people use Poe, including experiences with other users, bots, and apps powered by third-party AI model providers. The policy applies to Quora, Inc. and its affiliates and subsidiaries.
This policy supplements the Quora Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. Quora, Inc. is the data controller responsible for this notice. The canonical Poe policy is available at poe.com/pages/privacy.
Information We Collect, How It Is Used, & The Legal Basis for Processing
Account Information
Poe collects account identifiers such as email address, phone number, and Poe user ID to create accounts and verify identity. Existing Quora users may have Quora account details linked to Poe, and some users may be asked for date of birth to verify age. Poe also uses IP address, account details, and related information to provide the service, personalize some bot responses, communicate with users, troubleshoot issues, and provide product updates.
Contact List
With consent, Poe may access and periodically sync a phone contact list so users can find and connect with friends on Poe.
Device Information
Poe collects device type and operating system details for analytics and troubleshooting.
Third Party Application Login
When users log into Poe through another application, such as Google or Apple, Poe collects the name and email address associated with that application for authentication and identity verification.
Subscription Billing Data
Poe uses a third-party service provider to collect and process billing information for subscriptions, such as name, billing address, payment card details, phone number, and email address.
Content Creator Payments
For Poe content creators, Quora collects and shares payment and tax information with third-party processors and tax service providers to facilitate payments and comply with legal and contractual obligations.
Advertising
Poe may collect information about interactions with Poe ads, including IP address, advertising ID, and ad interaction information, and may share hashed email addresses with advertising platform partners. Where required, Poe obtains consent before this processing.
User Research
Poe may invite users to test features or participate in surveys. Participation is voluntary, and collected research data is anonymized. With consent, Poe may use personal information to communicate about research.
Interactions with Bots and Apps on Poe
Third-party AI model providers and third-party developers may receive information about interactions with bots and apps on Poe, including chat contents and uploaded photos or documents, so they can provide and improve their services or process information according to Poe account settings.
If Poe memory is enabled, Poe may remember helpful context from bot or app interactions and share that memory with other model providers a user interacts with on Poe so responses can be more personalized and relevant.
Poe user account details, such as username and email, are generally not shared with AI model providers or developers. In group chats, limited personally identifiable information may be shared so providers and developers can distinguish users. Developers who create bots and apps on Poe using APIs may view and store chats on their servers to train their models.
Poe may also use interactions to personalize the user experience, including recommendations for other bots or apps to explore and topics to discuss.
Information and files provided to bots and apps on Poe are shared with the model providers and developers that power those experiences. Users should avoid sharing sensitive personal information such as credit card numbers or social security numbers. More information about providers and developers is available in profiles and the Poe Privacy Center.
